Dr. Sadad Al Husseini is the founder and president of Husseini Energy Company, a highly specialized boutique oil and gas consultancy firm based in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia that caters to an executive clientele in international finance and in the oil and gas industry. Dr. Al Husseini’s career started at Saudi Aramco. He became senior vice president for exploration and producing in 1986, and later executive vice president for upstream operations from 1996 until his retirement in 2004. He is credited with the modern redevelopment of many of Aramco’s vast oil fields, the discovery and development of its Paleozoic oil and gas fields, and establishing the company’s leading-edge Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Center (EXPEC) in Dhahran. He served on Aramco's board of directors from 1996 until 2004, as well as on the board of the Saudi Electricity Company from 1999 to 2003. He was also the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s special representative in its natural gas negotiations from 2000 to 2003. Dr. Al Husseini obtained his bachelor’s degree in geology from the American University, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in geological sciences from Brown University. He is an honorary member of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers. He was also named a distinguished graduate of Brown University. He is a member of the Energy Intelligence advisory board, and senior energy advisor at the Riyadh-based international philanthropic organization, the King Faisal Foundation. Dr. Al Husseini is a member of the first class of the King Abdulaziz Order of Merit, considered the highest civilian honor in the Kingdom.

Alex Beard joined Glencore in 1995 working in the oil commodity department as a crude oil trader. He was responsible primarily for the Commonwealth of Independent States, and gained considerable expertise in high-sulphur crude oils. Mr. Beard was appointed chief executive officer of the oil and gas business in 2007, overseeing all of Glencore’s crude oil and oil products marketing, shipping, exploration and production, and other oil-related investments, as well as being a director of various other Glencore Group companies. Mr. Beard holds an M.A. in biochemistry from the University of Oxford. Before Glencore, he worked for five years with BP in its crude oil department.

Guy Broggi joined Total in 1978 as an expert in geosciences for E&P activities after graduating from “Ecole des Mines” in Nancy, France. His first 10 years at Total were dedicated to exploration data treatment and economics modelling for E&P investments. Mr Broggi was recently appointed Senior Adviser to the LNG Director in the Paris Headquarters after having been in charge of LNG supply for the group (2006-11). Before that, he had held several commercial positions related to the development of the Total LNG business in Jakarta and Tokyo (1988-95), Commercial Director for Total E&P subsidiaries in Argentina (1998-2001) and the UK (2002-06), where he helped create Total’s LNG desk in London. A member of the IGU LNG committee, Mr Broggi has been active also as a member of the governing bodies of the main international LNG and European gas conferences. He is a nonexecutive board member of Total Gas and Power (UK).

Spencer Dale joined BP as group chief economist in October 2014. Prior to that, he was executive director for financial stability at the Bank of England and a member of the Financial Policy Committee. Between 2008 and 2014, he was chief economist of the Bank of England and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee. Mr. Dale joined the Bank of England in 1989 and served in numerous roles, including private secretary to Mervyn King and head of economic forecasting. He also served as a senior advisor at the U.S. Federal Reserve Board of Governors between 2006 and 2008.

Bob Dudley became group chief executive of BP in 2010. He joined the oil and gas industry in 1979, and has held a variety of engineering, commercial and strategy posts in the United States, Britain, Russia and China. In 2009, Mr. Dudley was appointed to the BP board with accountability for the Americas and Asia. From 2003 to 2008, he served as president and chief executive officer of TNK-BP in Moscow. Following BP’s sale of TNK-BP and acquisition of a 20% stake in Rosneft, he joined the Rosneft board in 2013. Previous roles include vice president for alternative and renewable energy activities, and vice president responsible for BP’s upstream business in Russia, the Caspian region and Africa. Mr. Dudley’s external roles include membership of various business councils, the U.K.-U.A.E. C.E.O. Forum, the Advisory Board of the Tsinghua School of Economics and Management in Beijing, and the Russian Geographical Society. He is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. Mr. Dudley has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois, a master’s degree in international management from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona, and an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Dr. Bernard J. Duroc-Danner is Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Weatherford International plc, a worldwide provider of mechanical solutions, technology and services for the international drilling and production sectors of the oil and gas industry. Weatherford operates through an extensive infrastructure in over 100 countries and employs about 40,000 people worldwide. In 1987 Dr. Duroc-Danner was present from inception for the start-up of EVI, Inc., Weatherford’s predecessor company, and led its growth and development in the oil-field services and equipment industry. In 1998, EVI, Inc., acquired Weatherford Enterra and adopted the new name of Weatherford International, Inc. Weatherford’s growth thereon was both organic and acquisitive. Organic focus and growth has become gradually more important. In 2000, Weatherford dividended Grant Prideco, its tubular and drill pipe subsidiary, to its shareholders and Grant traded separately on the New York Stock Exchange. Dr. Duroc-Danner is a member of the National Petroleum Council and the Society of Petroleum Engineers. His family has been in the oil business for two generations. Before EVI, Inc., Dr. Duroc-Danner held positions at Mobil Oil Inc., and Arthur D. Little Inc.

Ambassador Chas W. Freeman, Jr. is a former United States diplomat who has served across many departments in various capacities over a period of three decades. These include assistant secretary of defense, ambassador to Saudi Arabia during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, acting assistant secretary of state for African affairs, and chargé d’affaires in Bangkok and Beijing. He began his diplomatic career in India but specialized in Chinese affairs, and he was the principal American interpreter during President Richard Nixon’s visit to Beijing in 1972. He remains a frequent visitor to China as well as Arabia. As chairman of Projects International, he has developed new business, and arranged international private sector joint ventures, acquisitions, and other business operations for American and foreign clients. He is also a managing member of PI Founders Stake Seed Capital Fund I, LLC. He is a much sought-after public speaker and the author of five books on statecraft and diplomacy. His most recent work on China, “Interesting Times: China, America, and the Shifting Balance of Prestige,” was published in March 2013. “America's Continuing Misadventures in the Middle East” was published in May 2016. He studied at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and in Taiwan, and earned a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Yale University as well as a J.D. degree from Harvard.

Katan Hirachand currently leads a number of flagship advisory deals for the bank including the Mozambique L.N.G. development project, which is set to raise around $15 billion. He also leads equity private placement deals for L.N.G. projects in Africa and the United States. He has led and closed deals in a number of African countries, and is closely involved in the development of floating L.N.G. projects. Dr. Hirachand led the project refinancing of the landmark $3.7 billion Egyptian Refining Company deal. He has worked extensively with multilateral agencies, development finance institutions and export credit agencies, and played a key role in new debt instrument development, including mezzanine tranches, equity, and A/B loan structures. Dr. Hirachand is a regular industry speaker and has a number of publications to his name. In 2012, he was nominated for the Financial News 40 Under 40 Rising Stars awards, having become one of the bank’s youngest-ever managing directors. In 2013, he became the first investment banker to secure a position on the Gastech steering committee highlighting his contribution to the industry. In 2014, he was selected to join the advisory board of the Global African Investment Summit. Dr. Hirachand holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from King’s College London, and is a recipient of the Tadion Rideal Prize for his contribution to molecular science.

Ed Merrow is the Founder and President of Independent Project Analysis, Inc. (IPA), the global industry leader in quantitative analysis of project management systems. After receiving degrees from Dartmouth College and Princeton University, Mr. Merrow began his career as an assistant professor at U.C.L.A., followed by 14 years directing the Rand Corporation's energy policy program. Mr. Merrow is a recognized expert on the development and execution of large and complex megaprojects, having spent decades conducting research on the unique challenges presented by these complex investments. His pioneering research culminated in the publication of his best-selling book, “Industrial Megaprojects: Concepts, Strategies, and Practices for Success” in 2011. The book is a valuable resource for those who need to understand the factors that drive the successful execution of multibillion-dollar industrial projects. Mr. Merrow founded IPA in 1987. With six offices spanning the globe, IPA evaluates capital-intensive projects of national and international oil, chemical, pharmaceutical, and mineral companies, benchmarking their cost, schedules, safety, start-up, and operational performance. IPA also evaluates site-based project systems, conducts assessments of project organizations and teams, promotes cost engineering best practices, and leads capital project research and training. IPA is celebrating its 30th anniversary this November.

Prior to his executive roles with Total, Patrick Pouyanné held various positions in the French industry ministry and other ministerial offices, including environment and industry, technical advisor to the prime minister from 1993 to 1995, and chief of staff to the information technology and space minister from 1995 to 1996. In 1997, Mr. Pouyanné joined Total as chief administrative officer of Total Angola and later became group representative in Qatar and chief executive officer of Total Qatar in 1999. In August 2002, he was appointed senior vice president, finance, economics and information systems. In 2006, he became senior vice president, strategy, business development and research and development, and was appointed a member of the group’s management committee. In 2011, Mr. Pouyanné was appointed executive vice president, chemicals, and executive vice president, petrochemicals. In 2012, he became president, refining and chemicals and a member of the group’s executive committee. In 2014, he was appointed chief executive officer of Total. In 2015, he was elected as a director of Total S.A. for a three-year term. In 2015, he was elected as chairman of the board of directors effective for the remainder of his term of office as director. Patrick Pouyanné is a graduate of École Polytechnique engineering school in Palaiseau near Paris, and a French Corps des mines engineer. He was decorated as a knight of the Legion of Honor in April 2015

Eldar Sætre, an industry veteran with almost four decades of experience, joined Statoil in 1980. He has held several leadership positions during his career, including executive vice president and chief financial officer from 2003 until 2010, and executive vice president for marketing, processing and renewable energy from January 2011 to October 2014. He was appointed president and chief executive officer in October 2014. His expertise was crucial in overseeing the privatization and listing of the company on the Oslo Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange in 2001. As chief financial officer, he played a major role in the merger of Statoil with Norsk Hydro’s oil and gas division in 2007. He has also been responsible for Statoil’s marketing strategy for natural gas sales and renewables. Mr. Sætre has an M.A. in business economics from the Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen.

Ragnar Wisløff is in charge of business development and commercial operations at Höegh LNG, serving as chief development officer since 2017 and as chief commercial officer since 2013. He joined Höegh LNG in 2005 and has 15 years of experience in both upstream and downstream activities with various companies in the gas industry. Mr. Wisløff holds a Master of Science degree in marine technology from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim.
