Description
The year 2017 may signify the emerging end of the Pax Americana and the emergence of new centers of regional power, i.e. China in Asia, Russia in Eastern Europe and the Levant and the US withdrawing to an America First strategy with major implications in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. Smaller countries, such as the Philippines in Asia and Hungary in Europe are assuming an increasingly independent posture, pulling away from past commitments in search of an independent self-serving policy. If indeed the framework of the post- World War II are being torn apart by developments in the US and Europe and elsewhere in the world, the implications of the Trump Presidency for regional and global peace global growth, trade and energy are huge.
