Actress, Host and Activist
Jameela Jamil is an actress, writer, host and activist. She was first seen on American television starring as Tahani in Michael Schur’s Golden Globe-nominated NBC sitcom “The Good Place,” opposite Ted Danson and Kristen Bell. The show won Critics’ Choice Television, AFI, Peabody and Television Critics Association awards.
Jamil has appeared as a judge on HBO Max’s competition show “Legendary,” portrayed the Marvel villain Titania in the series “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” and voiced the role of Wonder Woman in the animated feature film “DC League of Super-Pets.” Her credits also include roles in “Star Trek: Prodigy,” “Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin,” “Poker Face,” “People We Meet on Vacation” and “Elio.”
Jamil hosted the podcast “Bad Dates,” which premiered in March 2023, debuting at No. 1 on the Apple podcast comedy charts.
Off-screen, Jamil is a passionate mental health activist. In 2018, Jamil launched I Weigh — envisioned as a platform and community of changemakers who come together to share ideas, experiences and ultimately mobilize activism. I Weigh’s work explores social issues that stem from mental health to climate change to the representation of marginalized groups.
In April 2020, Jamil launched “I Weigh With Jameela Jamil,” a podcast launched with Earwolf, in which she speaks to a variety of thought-leaders, performers, activists, influencers and friends about their own experiences and stories with their mental health. The podcast’s conversations seek to amplify and empower diverse voices in an accessible way to celebrate progress, not perfection.
In fall 2024, off the success of I Weigh and her podcast, Jamil started a new organization — Move For Your Mind, which works to democratize exercise and make it more accessible for all bodies, while promoting movement for mental health. Move For Your Mind publishes original content featuring interviews, editorial stories, behind-the-scenes content, mini documentaries, round-table discussions, informational assets and more across Instagram, X and YouTube. They also host events globally.
