Marie Wieck is the driving force behind IBM’s global leadership in enterprise blockchain. In a career of more than 25 years, Wieck has held executive and technical leadership roles in IBM’s software, services and hardware units. She has a proven track record of delivering innovation from diverse teams and business impact from new technologies.
Since January 2017, Wieck has been general manager of IBM Blockchain, an emerging technology which is restoring trust by transforming business pro- cesses and transactions. She is responsible for IBM’s worldwide blockchain business including founder participation in the open source Hyperledger Project, our enterprise IBM Blockchain Platform, and transformative industry solutions including IBM Food Trust, TradeLens, we.trade and WorldWire.
Wieck’s previous leadership roles include profit and loss responsibilities for IBM Hybrid Cloud, WebSphere, MQ, Rational and Tivoli software portfolios, launching MobileFirst, PureApplication, and API Connect product lines. She has led strategy, open standards, software and services offering management, as well as mainframe hardware development.
Wieck is a director on the boards of Daimler AG, AnitaB.org, and Charity Naviga- tor, and she co-chairs the National Association of Female Executives (NAFE) Roundtable. In May 2019, Wieck was named to Crain’s Notable Women in Tech. In 2016 she was recognized as a Women of Vision STEM Champion by NAFE. In 2015, she was named to the WITI Hall of Fame for her passionate support of women in technology. Wieck is executive sponsor of IBM’s Global Work/Life Initiative.
Wieck holds an M.B.A. from New York University, an M.S. in computer science from Columbia University and a B.S. in engineering from The Cooper Union. She is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Soci- ety of Women Engineers.
