Massimo Mantovani was appointed Eni’s chief gas L.N.G. marketing and power officer in August 2017. He has also served as chairman of Eni Trading & Shipping, the company’s dedicated commodity trading arm, since November 2016.

After qualifying to practice law, Mr. Mantovani joined Eni’s legal department in 1993 and specialized in international negotiations and contracts, specifically international gas and L.N.G. supply projects and joint ventures.

In 2001, as legal director of Eni’s gas and power division, he managed the liberalization of the Italian gas market and the legal unbundling of the national gas transport system. From 2014, he served as chief legal and regulatory affairs, responsible for all legal and energy regulation matters, before being appointed chief midstream gas and power officer in October 2016.

From 2005 to 2012, Mr. Mantovani served on the board of directors of Snam Rete Gas, a former Eni subsidiary. He has also represented Eni on the governing board and executive committee of Eurogas, the association representing the European gas wholesale, retail and distribution sector, since November 2016.
