Ajay Shah heads Shell Energy Asia. In this role, he is responsible for shaping and executing the strategic direction of Shell in gas and power markets across Asia.

Mr. Shah joined Shell in 1993, serving in a variety of upstream and integrated gas roles in the United Kingdom, Singapore, Argentina, Australia, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates. He has managed several key business development and merger and acquisition projects, such as acquiring Marathon’s interest in Sakhalin Energy, the Woodside and Enterprise Oil acquisitions and, more recently, the BG Group acquisition.

Mr. Shah has worked in Shell’s gas and power division for more than half of his career. He was part of the team responsible for the successful start-up of Hazira, Shell’s L.N.G. regasification terminal in Gujarat, India. Subsequently he became the European portfolio manager at Shell Energy Europe, before being appointed head of strategy and portfolio for Shell’s global gas business, responsible for the strategic oversight of Shell’s L.N.G. assets, business development activities, gas supply/demand and pricing outlook, and the future direction of the company in gas and L.N.G..

Prior to his current position, Mr. Shah served as vice president, ventures west, in the integrated gas segment. He was responsible for Shell gas value chains in Oman L.N.G., Nigeria L.N.G., and the European gas market.

Mr. Shah graduated from the University of Surrey with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering.
