Speaker Bio
Douglas MacKenzie is a managing director with primary responsibility for coverage of the large capitalization integrated oils and independent producers in the United States and abroad. He maintains offices in Houston and London, and leads Citigroup’s energy franchise in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Mr. MacKenzie has almost three decades of experience in energy finance as both an investment banker and investor. He is a former head of Morgan Stanley’s Global Energy Group where he originated the “super major” concept and advised on many of the highest profile strategic transactions in the energy sector. He has also advised numerous sovereign states and national oil companies including those of Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and China. He also benefits from the perspective of an investor through experience gained in private equity, and as manager of an energy hedge fund.

Immediately post the events of Sept. 11, Mr. MacKenzie retrained as a paramedic and served in that capacity on a full-time basis for almost five years. Since returning to Wall Street, he continues to serve the community as a volunteer paramedic on weekends and holidays.

Mr. MacKenzie is a former refinery engineer with Exxon Mobil’s Canadian subsidiary Imperial Oil Limited. He has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and an M.B.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
