Ed Merrow is the Founder and President of Independent Project Analysis, Inc. (IPA), the global industry leader in quantitative analysis of project management systems.

After receiving degrees from Dartmouth College and Princeton University, Mr. Merrow began his career as an assistant professor at U.C.L.A., followed by 14 years directing the Rand Corporation's energy policy program.

Mr. Merrow is a recognized expert on the development and execution of large and complex megaprojects, having spent decades conducting research on the unique challenges presented by these complex investments. His pioneering research culminated in the publication of his best-selling book, “Industrial Megaprojects: Concepts, Strategies, and Practices for Success” in 2011. The book is a valuable resource for those who need to understand the factors that drive the successful execution of multibillion-dollar industrial projects.

Mr. Merrow founded IPA in 1987. With six offices spanning the globe, IPA evaluates capital-intensive projects of national and international oil, chemical, pharmaceutical, and mineral companies, benchmarking their cost, schedules, safety, start-up, and operational performance. IPA also evaluates site-based project systems, conducts assessments of project organizations and teams, promotes cost engineering best practices, and leads capital project research and training. IPA is celebrating its 30th anniversary this November.
